Johnson’s Hardware on Center Street celebrated its 50th anniversary on May 1 with a community open house, free hot dogs, and giveaways.
Founded in 1976 by the late Robert Johnson, the store has been a staple for generations of Pembroke residents. Current owner and son, David Johnson, said the business has survived big-box competition by focusing on personal service and hard-to-find items.
The family thanked the community for five decades of support and pledged to continue serving Pembroke for many more years.
