Susan M. Provost (Bearse), 72, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Susan was born on June 3,1953, and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Maureen Bearse (Condry) and the late George Bearse. Susan graduated at the top of her class from Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston in 1971. Susan had a long career working for the United States Postal Service and retired in 2013 from the Montello Post Office in Brockton.
She is survived by her devoted children, Gerri Schaffert and her husband Greg of West Bridgewater, and their children Rachael and Laura; Alan Provost and his partner Madelyn Perez of York, South Carolina, and their children Jaelin, Hallie, Vivian, and Dylan; and Liz Duggan and her husband Tim of Abington, and their children Sean, Luke, and Will.
She was the cherished sister of the late Robert Bearse of Florida, the late David C. Bearse, Cindy Preston of Florida, Joanne Geer of North Carolina, the late Jane Brown of Wareham, Jill Bearse of Plympton, John Bearse of Bridgewater, and the late Joseph Bearse of Pembroke.
As the eldest daughter of nine, she played an important role in caring for her seven younger siblings. If you needed something, Susan was sure to have it. She was a lover of animals, Halloween, cake decorating, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. A perfectionist, her talents shined through in everything she created. Stubborn in the best way and full of love, she cared deeply and fiercely, especially for her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember Susan. Her greatest legacy is the family she built and raised, who will carry her love forward in everything they do.
