The Pembroke Public Library has started a free seed library. Residents can “borrow” vegetable, flower, and herb seeds to plant at home and return seeds from their harvest in the fall.
The program is part of a broader sustainability initiative and has already distributed over 1,200 seed packets in its first week.
The Pembroke Garden Club’s annual plant sale on May 17 raised $3,800, which will fund two $1,900 scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing environmental or agricultural studies.
